I have been working as a psychologist for over 30 years in both clinical and organizational consulting roles. As a therapist, I specialize in treating people with chronic pain and other mind-body conditions and group therapy. I also have extensive experience working with survivors of childhood relational trauma and dissociative disorders. Spurred by my own recent experience, as reported in the NY Times, I also offer support groups for people who have experienced the loss of their therapist. Other therapists turn to me for supervision and consultation, including consultation groups specifically for therapists treating chronic pain and other neuroplastic symptoms.
My warm and engaging style helps clients feel safe and comfortable, and able to open up and discuss difficult issues. I work primarily from a psychodynamic framework, while integrating elements of other modalities when they might be helpful.
Before transitioning to my psychology career, I studied Electrical Engineering at Cornell University, and worked as an Electronic Design Engineer. I then earned my doctorate at the Rutgers University Graduate School of Applied and Professional Psychology, and a certificate in Organizational Development and Consultation in the Organization Program at the William Alanson White Institute of Psychiatry, Psychoanalysis, and Psychology. I have been active in professional advocacy, fighting for the rights of people seeking mental health services — for this work, I was named Psychologist of the Year in 2011 by the New Jersey Psychological Association. I was also awarded the prestigious Peterson Prize in 2013 by the Rutgers University Graduate School of Applied and Professional Psychology for "outstanding contributions to professional psychology."
In my spare time, I am an avid skier, cyclist, and rock musician.
